Meetings
Lincoln will hold quarterly IDAC meetings to help build cultural competency.
Focus Areas
Meeting Agenda and Minutes
Lincoln Elementary is one of the most diverse campuses in Clovis Unified with 14 different languages spoken at this school. We love to celebrate our diversity and continously look for ways to honor and spotlight our differences.
Mac n Lions Multicultural Nights
Three times a year, we hold a special multi-cultural celebration and dinner to spotlight the different cultures on our campus. These nights are well attended community events and feature wonderful native dishes, presentations done by our students, and opportunities to get to know other families at our school. We encourage all Lincoln families to attend. They are wonderful events.
Multi-Cultural Curriculum
The district adopted Benchmark, Collections, and all supplemental curriculums include texts from kindergarten through 6th grade that illustrate and celebrate diversity and inclusion. The curriculum are highly engaging and are designed to help meet the needs of ALL of our students.
Kindness Week
Every year, Lincoln Elementary participates in the Great Kindness Challenge to encourage students to notice others and intentionally be kind. As a result of these "Kindness" weeks, we have installed a Buddy Bench thanks to the support of Pizza Factory, supported Paradise Elementary following the devastating fire, and sent hundreds of pairs of shoes to children in Africa who do not have shoes. During the Kindness Weeks, classrooms compete to do the most acts of kindness in one week and culminates in an all-school assembly promoting kindness.
Staff Development
Throughout the year, our teachers and staff participate in a variety of diverse trainings to increase awareness of student needs and ways to support them.
These trainings have included:
Positive Behavior Intervention Systems
At Lincoln we have implemented PBIS to put systems in place to positively support students and teach them appropriate behavior. This includes an annual Passport Day to explicitely teach the students the expectations of the campus and ROAR tickets to reward students for good and/or improved behavior. Every Friday students get to exchange their ROAR tickets for rewards they have earned and each month their is a grand prize ROAR drawing for things like donuts with the principal or extra recess time.
